Meatballs are one of the simplest things you can make, grab some beef mince a roll it into a ball right?
For the sauce
- 400g tin of chopped tomatoes
- 1 tbsp Ketchup
- 1 tsp Tomato Puree
- 1 tsp Paprika
- 1 tsp Garlic Powder
- 1 tsp Mixed Herbs
For the meatballs
- 250g Beef Mince
- Half an onion
- 1 slice bread
- + Grated Mozzarella to top
Start off with the sauce, you’re going to want to put all of the ingredients in a pan, mix them all together and then simmer on a low heat for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally to make sure that it doesn’t burn. Once done leave to one side, you could even make this the day before and let all the ingredients get acquainted in the fridge overnight. (It also makes a pretty good pizza base sauce too).
For the meatballs, grate the onion or chuck it in a mini food processor and blitz then add to the beef mince. Do the same to the bread, although, mind your fingers… using your hands combine the onion, bread and beef mince and form into 5 balls.
Cook the meatballs on a baking sheet in a 200c oven for about 15 minutes, until golden and crispy. Warm the sauce and then pour into an oven proof serving dish, add the meatballs and top with the cheese. Bake until the cheese has melted and then grab a fork.
