Tonkatsu is essentially just breaded pork but oh my god is it worth it!
- 1-2 Pork Loin Steaks
- 1 tsp Worcestershire Sauce
- 1 tsp Oyster Sauce
- 1 tbsp Tomato Ketchup
- 3 cups Cornflakes
- 1 Egg (beaten)
- 2 tbsp Flour
You’ll need to start off by making the breadcrumbs, either blend the cornflakes until they make a coarse powder or, if you don’t have a blender, smash them up in a freezer bag with a rolling pin/bottle of wine/something heavy.
In a freezer or between 2 pieces of cling film beat the pork into a thin steak. Next, dust the pork in flour, dunk in the egg and then coat in the cornflakes. Put the pork onto a wire rack on a baking tray, or use the grill pan. Bake the pork for 20 mins at 200c.
While the pork cooks mix together the ketchup, oyster and Worcestershire sauces. Once the pork is done, cut into thin strips and dunk in the sauce.
