Prawn Dumplings

Who doesn’t love dumplings they are the ultimate in comfort food! Here is a simple recipe for you to make them at home for yourself.

For the cases

  • 1 Cup Flour
  • ½ Cup Warm Water

For the filling

  • 300g Raw King Prawns
  • 1 Spring Onion (Finely diced)
  • ½ tsp Chopped Garlic
  • 1 Tsp Shaoxing Rice Wine
  • ½ tsp Ground Ginger
  • ½ tsp Sesame Oil
    • if you don’t have Shaoxing or Sesame Oil, you can sub the Shaoxing for Soy Sauce

Make the dough first by mixing the flour and the water together, you may need a little extra water if the mixture is a little crumbly. Form the water and flour into a ball and knead a little before rolling out into a thin sheet. Blitz the prawns in a food processor so they form a coarse paste. Put them in a bowl and mix with the other filling ingredients.

Cut the dumpling dough into rounds using a cookie cutter and put a teaspoon of filling in the centre. Dab around the edge of the case and fold in half, seal the edge and fold in half again and pinch the ends together. Repeat this until all of the dough or filling has been used. To cook the dumplings, steam them for about 20mins or you can boil them for about the same amount of time!
