Fridays for some are for takeaways, my standard order in the fish and chip shop is battered sausage and chips. I decided I would try and make it myself, when you make your own chips its mad how many you get from one humble spud. So make this for your very own fakeaway at a fraction of the cost!
- 2 Sausages (your favourite ones)
- 1/3 cup Flour
- ½ cup Beer
- 1 Large Potato
- Oil
If you have a deep fryer look below if not… keep reading. Pour some oil into a roasting pan and stick it in the oven. Heat the oven and oil to 220c. while the oven heats up, peel the potato and cut into chunky chips. Pat the chips dry and once the oil is up to temperature add the chips and roast for half an hour or until golden and crispy (flip them halfway through).
While the chips cook, make the batter. You want it to look like pancake batter. Heat about an inch or oil in a large saucepan and then put over a high heat. Once the oil is hot, dunk the sausages in the batter and fry in the oil until golden and crispy. Once it’s all done, grab you ketchup and enjoy!
For the deep fryer people among you, fry the chips until crispy and keep wamr in the oven and do the same with the sausages once you’ve dipped them in the batter.
