I went to Orchid the other week, I’ll be honest its somewhere that’s been on the radar for a while and I’ve finally managed to get in there and try it, I’ll definitely be back! Sitting down and perusing the menu I managed to get myself a three course dinner without the bother of a pudding course, result!
There are so many fun and interesting things on the menu at Orchid it’s hard to choose a favourite to have for dinner. What made this a lot harder was the fact that they have a Dim Sum menu and let’s be honest, who doesn’t love Dim Sum!?
Dum Sum chosen (Char Sui Bao), it was on to the more pressing matter of what to have for stater and main course. I eventually made my choice; Soft Shell Crab followed by Dan Dan Noodles.
The Dim Sum arrived first, the little fluffy clouds of dough filled with BBQ pork. I was in heaven, it’s my favourite thing on a Dim Sum menu, when I first tried Dim Sum in Hong Kong I was asked what my favourite one was… I replied ‘The cloud ones.’
After the Bao Buns my crab arrived, I never cook soft shell crab at home its always a restaurant treat and this one was fantastic! I actually put the leftovers into the broth of my Dan Dan Noodles.
The final showpiece to my meal was the Dan Dan Noodles, perfectly seasoned and with a broth to die for, I couldn’t have asked for more, I was very full once I’d finished thoughm but you know that good kind of full?
Orchid is located on Newmarket road in Cambridge, make sure you pop in if you love amazing Pan Asian cuisine.
