Beef Mince Pastabake Bolognaise

I made this as I had full intention of making a Lasagna. I had been craving it for AGES but when it came to actually getting down and preparing this I had one solitary sheet of lasagna left in the cupboard. So it became a pasta bake.

  • 200g Beef Mince
  • 75g Spirali pasta
  • ½ Red Onion
  • Tin Chopped Tomatoes
  • 175ml Red Wine
  • 2 tsp Tomato Puree
  • 1 tsp Paprika
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 tbsp Balsamic Vinegar
  • 1 Beef Oxo
  • 2 tbsp White Sauce Powder (it saves time)
  • 50g Cheddar
  • 20g Parmesan

In a large pan brown the beef mince and then drain and leave to one side.  In the same pan, fry the onion until just translucent then add the rest of the ingredients. Give everything a good stir and simmer for about 10 minutes.

While the tomato mixture simmers, boil the pasta in salted water until al dente. Add the cooked pasta and beef to the tomato mixture and give everything a good stir.  Transfer to an oven dish and either top immediately with the white sauce or leave it to cool as I did.

For the white sauce, mix the powder with water and add the parmesan to the mixture. You want it quite thick but not too thick. Pour over the pasta bake and the top with grated cheddar, bake in the oven at 200c for 20-30 minutes. Enjoy!
