Portly Cooks | McDonald’s Big Mac

Big Mac

The Big Mac, it is a classic and the same (pretty much) the world over. I fancied having a go at making my version of the McDonald’s classic.

  • 200g Ground Beef
  • 1 ½ Brioche Buns
  • 20g Rocket
  • 2 Cheese Slices
  • 3 slices of Gherkin/Pickle

Portly’s Big Mac Sauce

  • 2 tsp Ketchup
  • 2 tsp American Mustard
  • 1 tsp Gherkin Pickle Juice
  • 1 tsp Mayonnaise
  • 1 finely diced spring onion

For the burgers take 2 100g balls of the ground beef and flatten by rolling them between two sheets of baking parchment. Fry them on either side until crispy on either side. Take out and leave to rest somewhere warm.

Mix together the ingredients for the big mac sauce and leave to one side. Cut the brioche in half and then cut the middle out of another brioche bun. Fry the buns in the residual oil used for the burgers. Smother the buns in the big mac sauce and top with the rocket.

Add the gherkins to one of the patties and then stick the cheese on both. Finally construct your master piece and shove it all in your face… you’re welcome.
