I’ve been browsing through some Paleo books and following a few Paleo chefs on Instagram and Tumblr and the food has looked awesome. It’s got me thinking, now I’m going to go full Paleo but the recipes I’ve been reading definitely have inspired me. I don’t think that this one would qualify as Paleo either, it’s got butter and the salad is smothered in mayo and balsamic syrup…
- 1x Rib Eye Steak
- 2x Spring Onions
- ½ Red Pepper
- 2 Cloves Garlic
- 25g Butter
- Handful of Salad Leaf
- Mayonnaise
- Balsamic Syrup
Right then, first off take the steak from the fridge, cover and leave it on the side for about an hour so that it comes to room temperature. This will make cooking slightly easier and also more even. While the steak is sitting on the side, dice and slice the garlic, red pepper and spring onions, put them in a bowl and chill out for a bit. Just while the steak sorts itself out.
Once the steak has warmed up a bit heat a pan or wok to a very high heat. Season the steak both sides with salt and pepper and fry the steak for about 3 minutes either side, longer or shorter depending how you like your steaks.
While the steak is cooking, ball some salad leaf, place on the plate and drizzle over the balsamic syrup and mayo. Once the steak is done, rest it in a warm place and fry off the garlic, spring onions and pepper in the same pan, don’t forget the butter!
Finally thinly slice the steak and plate up spooning the garlic, onion and pepper over the top. Then, you’re good to go.
